Dr. Desmond A. Brown is an Assistant Clinical Investigator and Head of the Neurosurgical Oncology Unit at NINDS/NIH. Originally from Jamaica, he moved to the US after completing high school. At the undergraduate level, he studied chemistry and biochemistry and obtained a Bachelor of Science with honors and was also a two-time recipient of the Clearfield Chemistry Scholarship awarded through Temple University’s College of Science and Technology. After subsequent completion of a Master of Science in biochemistry and biophysics at Temple University School of Medicine, he matriculated in the joint Rutgers-Robert Wood Johnson/Princeton University MD/PhD program, earning a PhD in molecular biology and neuroscience. He was the recipient of an NIH F30 award as well as a predoctoral research fellowship from the New Jersey Commission on Cancer Research. His focus is on curing Glioblastoma Multiforme.
